The Support Services Division is the background support for the overall operation of the Sheriff's Office and is the public face for citizens coming to the department with various needs. The staff assigned to these responsiblities is skilled in a variety of adminstrative functions. This division is responsible for entry of warrants, civil papers, subpoenas, hand written traffic citations and various reports in the department's record management system.
Staff is also responsible for the entry of wanted / missing persons and stolen property into the Georgia Crime Information Center System and accesses the GCIC system to run criminal history record checks for the public, for the courts and for investigations.
This division is responsible for sex offender registration, the registration of secondary metal recyclers, uniform crime reporting and the review of background checks on firearms license applications. The division is also, responsible for agency records and submission of data to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation each month.
Open record requests are processed by members of this division. Public Information Officer David Haire is the agency's open records officer. Requests for records under O.C.G.A. 50-18-70 are to be made to him or to Captain Chad Davis, alternate open records officer.
The division commander is the system administrator over the department's record management system and in that position opens user accounts in the system for new employees, removes user accounts of former employees and merges duplicate records.
Staff also enters protective orders into the State Protective Order Registry and maintains documentation to support record entries.
The Support Services Division has staff members on duty twenty-four hours a day. The business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 6:00 pm.
