Church Security Training
48 individuals representing 27 churches took part in a Church Security Training Monday presented by the Tift County Sheriff's Office and hosted by the First Baptist Church of Tifton in their Ministry Center. Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarbrough said, "It's sad but necessary that we provide this Church Security training."
Captain Wingate Whitley spoke about how to improve church security in Tift Counties almost 200 churches.
- HAVE A Plan
- Church leadership should have a basic plan in place for dealing with security issues.
- The plan should deal with a variety of areas:
- Disruption of services
- Violence
- Natural disasters
- Medical Emergency
- Missing Child
- The plan should clearly define procedures to handle a variety of situations.
Remember the best security is awareness and that good security can be in place with minimal intrusion to the congregation. There is no assurance that a violent episode can be avoided. By taking responsibility for the safety of your Church, you will have done the best thing to prevent it.
